- Fill out form: Choose Commemorative Letter OR Personal Letter (Personal Letter material will be sent to you to write your own letter. Then you return your written letter to the Letter Secretary to be carried on the Re-Ride)
- Mail Letter Application, with correct funds, to the Letter Secretary, address below
- Your Letter will be carried by horseback in the mochila during the Re-Ride, and then sent on to the recipient from St. Joseph, via USPS.
Your letter will be carried on horseback by over 700 riders along the original 1,966 mile Pony Express Trail in just 10 days. The 2027 Re-Ride will be June 16-26, from Old Sacramento, CA, to St. Joseph, MO, (West-to-East). Wyoming will be highlighted in the 2027 Commemorative Letter.
At $5.00, the same price as in 1860, these Commemorative Letters are the Official Souvenir of the Annual Pony Express Re-Ride. They highlight historical events, sites, and/or people of the Pony Express. Upon reaching St. Joseph, each envelope is then hand-stamped with a special US Postal Service cancellation. The letters are then sent out to the recipients via regular USPS mail.
Personal letters are also available for $10.00. These are personally written by you to send to your recipient. The materials will be sent to you, you compose your letter, then return the letter to the NPEA for carrying on the Re-Ride.
