“Map Lite” App: 2026 Pony Express Annual Re-Ride Rider App (arcgis.com)

This mapping app takes out some of the layers displayed in the regular map (FTR page) and automatically has the NOAA weather layer on.  Riders and support personnel along the trail may find this handier to use and quicker to load.

Riders, Support Crew, Radio Operators and Pony Express Members!

We have an app that helps with the logistics of the re-ride. We have tested this out in Utah and have had great success with it. We are working on pushing it out to the rest of the states. We have a website set up to explain what the app does and how to use it. We are also looking for people to help us mark waypoints along the trail. All of this information, including instructions, can be found on here.

The mail leaves Sacramento on June 16 at 3:00 pm PDT.  It arrives at the Patee House in St. Joseph on June 26 at 8:30 pm CDT.

A few things to note:

  • Real Time tracking on the Follow the Ride Map or use the “map lite” app (top of page) for mobile devices.
  • The Mochila is carrying a ‘Find Me Spot’ device (Pinger), it is located at the back of the Mochila in a small pouch.  DO NOT turn the Pinger off.   Also, keep it moving, as it will turn off after 5 minutes of being stationary.
  • Help Keep History alive and send in a rider report to our Media Team via email (nationalponyexpress@gmail.com) when you completed your ride. Ride Reports are posted HERE.
