A tradition honoring a fondly remembered- but shorted lived- service will be back in the Panhandle on Thursday.
The Pony Express re-ride, going from St. Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California kicked off this week, and tomorrow will have some public viewing stops.
Crews are expected to leave the Chappell fairgrounds at 6 a.m. and arriving in Sidney around 8:20 a.m.
At each stop riders will transfer the mochilla carrying letters, including a noon stop at Bridgeport’s 21st Century Equipment, Chimney Rock Visitors Center at 1:15 p.m. and Scotts Bluff National Monument at 4 p.m.
Riders will wrap up their day in Lyman before continuing their trek west again on Friday morning.
