By Jenju Peters Summer brings several annual traditions to towns across Nebraska, one of which is the National Pony Express Association’s reride.

Over ten days which spanned into last week, riders and horses brought a mochila with mail from St. Joseph Missouri to Sacramento, California. This journey across 8 states by followed the original Pony Express trail.

The Pony Express was developed in 1860 as a faster way to get mail to the west of the U.S. but was eventually replaced with the telegraph.
